There were tears and hugs galore. We cleaned, fixed, packed, and moved so many things. My childhood friend Adam once said that life is just moving shit from one place to another. At our home in rural Prairie Farm, we did literally move shit from one place to another. We used humanure sawdust toilets, hauled our waste out to the compost bins to decompose over two years, then hauled the finished compost to the garden to grow amazing food. Later, we hauled loads of veggies into the house to be processed, cooked and eaten. Then the cycle started over once more. My kids understand the concept of life cycles perhaps on a more elemental level than many other people.
Leaving PF was a difficult decision, but Mark and I decided to take a risk and move north to Ely. This blog will be about our transitions and the journey we are taking to live at the end of the road in a little town called Winton, which is just 3 miles from Ely. We purchased a lovely lake front property on Fall Lake. Hmm, well the land is lovely, but a large building exists on the lake side lot which will need to be taken down. As we begin our deconstruction and construction phase, I will try to post photos to help illustrate the process.
The photos in this post show us after cleaning the last things out of the house and mopping the floor one last time. We are all on the verge of tears (except Fiona) about having to say goodbye to our beautiful home. My mom took these photos after helping us scrub, vacuum and schlepp all weekend. It was a sad moment for certain. We invested so much of ourselves in this property. Now we move on to new adventures and investing ourselves in another beautiful spot on this earth.
Great photos! xxoo
