Foundation Pour!

We had an exciting development in the shop construction when the foundation was poured this week. Mark and Raif worked hard to get the forms done and braced. It was a long process that didn't cost a lot of money due to using the scrap wood from the sawmill and reusing all those studs that had been salvaged from the Outfitters. I know that some will understand the satisfaction of doing the job with those materials. The reuse, recycle and reduce slogan is part of our philosophy. It might take longer, but faster isn't always better! Also, less is more!!

The concrete truck that came had a conveyor belt to deliver the concrete directly where it needed to go. It made the pour go very smoothly. With David shoveling, Mark screeding, and Raif tapping the sides of the form to ensure no air bubbles, the team worked well together to get the job done. Cora watched Fiona, and I took pictures. We even had an audience as a retired contractor from the neighborhood came by to see how the new type of cement truck worked.

Beginning of the pour. The day was hot, but clear sky.

The conveyor belt was run by a remote controlled joystick. Kinda cool.

Support team!

Raif and Mark in action. At 10" down when digging the forms in, we hit ledgerock. The joys of building in the northland!

Raif was working the whole time, and did develop a blister for his effort. A small price to pay for construction cred like this!

The Olson's...man those genes are strong!

Just an additional pic of Fifi showing her cute pigtails and crooked glasses. We found the lens for her glasses which she had popped out in the bottom of the car floor. Little stinker!
