This weekend when it got really hot and muggy, we were out setting up forms for the concrete. Work will continue on that project for a few days. Mark is using lumber from the logs he sawed, and setting the forms does take some time. We rented a transit from the hardware store, and Raif learned to read it quickly. Fifi learned to play in the dirt quickly.
The back lot was just an empty spot when we moved here, but it quickly filled up with logs, timbers, sawdust, and slab wood. Mark has been busy sawing due to a slow work season. The silver lining in having work called off is he can work on the building projects! He is wearing many hats these days - carpenter, designer, sawyer, diesel mechanic, daddy and husband! It makes him kind of crazy sometimes, but we have had many visitors to entertain us. Most recently, Sarah Hinde and her awesome friend Audrey followed a day later by our friend Sam Karns who came to help out and fish some.
The latest pics show the forms for the shop footings being set up, all from material that either Mark sawed or salvaged from the building.
Raif had to scratch his head a bit...
Fiona carried her inflatable stick to help out.
Leveling the forms can make you crazy!
Raif got good at the drill!
Footings will be poured soon in this trench.
As school gets ready to start, the weather gets muggy and warm of course. The kids are home for one more week. I hope to have another post soon with pics of the footings!
It may seem slow to all of you, but I am in awe watching this unfold!!!!
